Tupolev Tu-160, supersonic aircraft Biggest In The World

Articles that discuss about this one a bomber plane, which is made in Russia Tupolev Tu-160 which he said is a supersonic aircraft in the world. Check the article and also see the photos.

Largest “swan”: the length of 54 m; the equipped mass of 267 tons, maximum takeoff weight - 275 tons Wingspan with the minimum sweepback (20 degrees) - 57,7 m, with the intermediate (35 degrees) - 50,7 m, with the maximum (65 degrees) - 35,6 m

Largest supersonic aircraft in the world. Most terrible bomber, capable of bearing cruise missiles. And the most graceful weapon. We examine Tu-160 from all sides. According to the classification of NATO, these strategic bombers bear name “black Jack” (but on American slang - “bludgeon”). However, our pilots baptized them “white swans” - and this greater it is similar to the truth. In spite of terrible armament and staggering power, supersonic Tu-160 is surprisingly elegant.

Each of them - piece and very expensive product. During entire history were built only 35 such aircraft, and in their soundness it remained that less. But they - the present pride of Russia and the thunderstorm of its enemies.

Bomber became “our answer” to the American program AMSA (Advanced Of manned Of strategic Of aircraft - “developed manned strategic aircraft”), within the framework which was developed B -1 Of lancer, and by the answer to remarkable. Practically according to all characteristics Tu-160 they substantially anticipate their basic competitors - American Lancer’ OV. The speed “of swans” is higher 1,5 times, so is more a combat radius and maximum flying distance. The engine thrust is more powerful almost doubly. And are already in no way maintained comparison with them much less successful “the invisible” B -2 Of spirit, with construction of which in the favor of low observability was brought it seems everything, which is only possible, including load capacity, the stability of flight and its distance.

After the collapse of the USSR those locating in the presence Tu-160 were divided between the republics. 19 of them, that were being been based on the air base 84- GO of guard bomber air regiment in Prilukakh, were reached to the Ukraine. Eight of them transmitted to Russia on account debts for the gas, and rest were simply sawn (last Ukrainian “swan” it was converted into the museum, and it is possible to visit in Poltava).

WindowsPager, Multiple Desktop Applications

One article that discusses this called WindowsPager an application that lets us set up to 4 virtual desktops on the screen monitor us. The author this article is Joey Reyes.

Wouldn’t you like to have multiple desktops to work on, all on the same monitor? Think of the things you could do. You could be working on one project on one part of your desktop and then switch to work on another with just one click of your mouse, all on the same monitor. You could boost your productivity levels and increase the speed of whatever it may be that you’re working on.

I have come across a free multiple desktop application that can possibly help you not only organize yourself, but also jump-start your efficiency. We will let you decide how this app could benefit you the most.

WindowsPager

WindowsPager allows for up to four virtual desktops that can effectively increase the efficiency of your work and save time. You can manage several windows and applications that are always visual on your Windows task bar.

How It Works

All you have to do is launch WindowsPager from the zip file once you’ve downloaded it , click on the exe file and run it, you will instantly have four accessible and separate desktops to work from. This app is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista and comes with no uninstaller as it is run from a zip file.

You can switch from one desktop to the other with the click of the mouse, and if you should ever want to, quitting out of the program is extremely easy as well (by right clicking).

WindowsPager immediately multiplies your screen space by four and it hardly uses up any memory on your PC because it is run from the zip file (it almost acts as though it is a third party application). If you utilize newer versions of FireFox then you won’t need to scan WindowsPager for viruses as the browser does this for you, however if you’re using another browser or wish to scan for more viruses then you can use your personal anti-virus software installed on your PC to scan the system once you’ve reached the zip file.

Conclusion & Compatibility

The few things this application lacks are a settings menu so that the user is able to quickly change settings and functionality, and a task bar icon so that the user can quickly summon the power of multiple desktops when needed.

If you like the idea of dividing your work space on your desktop so you’d have a crisper and cleaner view of the tasks you’re undertaking, then WindowsPager can possibly aid you

The 5 Hardest Games in the Online World

In the articles that I find time this list was published 5 game according to the author of the article is the most difficult that he ever play, the author is Simon Slangen.

I’ve played a wide variety of games throughout my life so far, ranging from Spyro the (cute little) Dragon and Crash Bandicoot to the more controversial Grand Theft Auto and Manhunt series.

During my search for new games, I encountered some games that were more - special.

Frankly, some of these games made you pull out all of your hair before you were done.

For this article, I’ve searched for the hardest (free) games in the world. Believe me when I say it will be frustrating. It will seem impossible. And if you don’t die and fail a few hundred times before succeeding, you’re just not trying hard enough.

If this seems too much for you, please turn back now. Failure will be an option - nearly a necessity before succeeding. If you can find the courage, follow me into the gaming pit of doom.

5. La Mulana

You’re an adventurer, and armed with nothing but a whip, you choose to invade the tomb of La Mulana. Like always, these tombs are far from empty, and trespassers are not particulary celebrated.

There are many items to be found in the game, many of which will contribute to the story, and some that will grant you additional abilities and weapons.

Remarkable for this 2D platformer, is that the story is non-linear. Yes, the ending will always be the same - if you manage to reach it - but there are tons of different ways to get there.

The game was originally released in Japanese, but an English patch was made available by Ian Kelley of AGTP. So you’ll need to download and install both the original game and the English patch.

4. World’s Hardest Game #2

The fourth place is taken by a flash game - the World’s Hardest Game 2 (talking about paradoxes).

The game looks ridiculously simple, but don’t be fooled; many brave men and women went down because of carelessness.

You play with the red square. Your objective is to grab all the coins and return to one of the green patches. There’s only one obstacle; the little blue balls. Touch those and you’re done for.

Easy, right?

The problem is that these little blue balls constantly move around, which creates a deadly maze that you need to get through.

Instead of showing you the number of lives you’ve got left, the game chooses to mock you with the number of lives you’ve lost so far. Play through all fifty insane levels, and you’ll hold a name of honor.

If you enjoyed playing this game, you should also check out the first game of the series.

3. Japanese Mario Kitten (dl)

Our bronze medal goes to this Japanese Mario-like game.

The game has a high degree of randomness, which takes the difficulty to a whole new level, so don’t be surprised when you hit invisible bricks or get killed by the clouds from time to time. Many people claim that because of this, completing it is more a matter of memory than of skill. But whatever the cause, the difficulty of this game is undeniable.

2. FLaiL

Being the second hardest game available, FLaiL receives the silver medal.

FLaiL is an acrobatic 2D platformer, in which you need to hike, jump and even fly accross the level to reach a red beam. The difficulty of this game lies not in any randomness, but - as you can see in the screenshot below - in the insanity of the level designs. Even the tutorials are pretty hard, and it doesn’t get any easier. Play through the 80 available stages by yourself or in co-operation mode. It’s also possible to add a third player, who then occupies himself with dropping bombs to make it even more difficult!

1. I Wanna Be The Guy

By far the hardest game ever made, I Wanna Be The Guy.

I admit, if you manage to finish this game, you’ll be one hell of a guy.

You’re playing the role of Kid, who’s on the dangerous quest of becoming a guy. The game is frustrating at times, but wonderfully designed and hosts several cool references to old school classics - like the tetris level.

This game manages to combine utterly insane level designs with bits of randomness. You see the screenshot above? Chances are pretty good that a few of those spikes will try to attack you in mid-air.

Similar to Japanese Mario Kitten, remembering the oddities of each level plays at least as big of a role as your skill. However, if you manage to beat this game, you will be amongst the elite few.

If there are any games which you consider to be the hardest games in the whole world, please let us know in the comments what they are.

Adding the feature "Paste and Go" In Mozilla Firefox 3

One feature that is quite useful for me is there in the Opera and Google Chrome but not in Mozilla Firefox features is "Paste and Go". Yes .. this feature is very useful if a time line we get a URL that is not on its hyperlink, so if there is a feature we just simply copy the URL, open a new tab, then right-click on the browser address bar menu and select "Paste and Go "ya .. no need to press the button "Go" or press the "Enter" key on the keyboard.

Then I also try to find the add-ons "Paste and Go" to the browser Mozilla Firefox 3 on Google and finally find some. After I finally tested one at my options down to the add-ons for the browser called Mozilla Firefox 3 Paste and Go 3 0.8.1. Add-ons are still pro-label "Experimental" so if you want to download them you must register first to become member of the Firefox Add-ons.

After add-ons in installed, and as usual in the restart of Firefox, now I can open a URL with just a new tab and click on the right in the address bar menu and select "Paste and Go". But in fact add-ons also provide the steps much easier to open a URL which we copy, that is by pressing the button shortcut "CTRL + Shift + V".

When we press the key shortcut will automatically copy the URL of our earlier will be opened in the currently active tab, so .. if you want a URL that you copy is opened in new tab does not overwrite tab so that you are open, you can activate setting in the menu "Option" add-ons Paste and Go 3 0.8.1 is. Open window is the Add-ons Firefox you, select the add-ons Paste and Go 3 0.8.1, click the menu "Option", then the tab "General" in the "Open pasted URLs and search results in:" select the option "new tab in the foreground ", and click the" OK "button to activate it. so .. now copy the URL that you can easily open in the new tab.

Already long enough I do not login to my Digg account and a new night I log in again. After some time walking in the Digg site I found a link at the footer right at the "Digg Tools & API", yes .. link with a Firefox toolbar. Which in my mind that time may be this toolbar function the same as ScribeFire where we can post blogs to our Blogger account without having to login to the site. Without headlong simply download my toolbar.

After I install and I learned, that this function Digg Toolbar beyond my expectation, yes .. toolbar that works only for men-submit the URL of an article that has not been on Digg in the submit-only, so just to keep the title and description should we do with how to login to your account on our site Digg and as usual we do.

Well, anyway .. other functions of Digg Toolbar is to give us a notification of a popular article that just go to the frontpage of Digg site, and also to give us information about an article that we open, yes .. how many digg the article and how many comments on Digg.

Tutorial to Move Our Site From One Server to Another Server....

For you the web master i found a tutorial articles at phpclasses.org, this article teaches how to move our site from one server to another server, this is step by step to migrate Web site servers with the least of problems :

10 steps to migrate Web site servers with the least of problems

* 1. Prepare your DNS
* 2. Setup the new server
* 3. Tune the server file system for performance and integrity
* 4. Install the base applications
* 5. Initial data migration
* 6. Put the old server in migration mode
* 7. Bring your new server to life
* 8. Double check your server security
* 9. Epilogue
* 10. The forgotten step that you remembered

So the PHPClasses site server had to be migrated. The main reason was bandwidth. The new served had premium bandwidth. This means the data center guaranteed the necessary bandwidth to my server.

Some data centers offer un-metered bandwidth. This means you can transfer as many data as you want, but the available bandwidth is shared with all other servers in the same data center.

Additionally, since a new machine was used in the new data server, it uses a faster CPU, larger hard disk and more RAM.

The choice of the new data center was handled by Greg of Net Virtual. So he knows better the details of the bandwidth offers. For me, what matters is that I am paying the same price as before for a better server in a better hosting facility.

Despite the benefits of migrating to a better server, the actual migration is a complicated process that can fail in so many ways that I thought it would be a good idea to share what you need to be concerned if you need to migrate your servers too.

You need to go through several steps that need to be done in the right order to prevent major headaches.

- 1. Prepare your DNS

When you move a site to a new server in a different network, it will get new IP addresses. This means that during the switch between the old and the new server, your site domain records in the DNS need to be updated.

The problem is that DNS servers cache domain name queries for as long as possible to provide the fastest response.

Usually the queries are cached for days. So if you change the DNS records for your domain, many sites users will only see the change of server after several days.

The solution for this problem is to to lower the TTL (Time To Live) values of your DNS records. This is a value that indicates for how long DNS queries can be cached. When the time that has passed exceeds the TTL, DNS queries need to be done again.

So the first thing you need to do before migrating is to lower the TTL to reasonable levels. Initially you can set it to 30 minutes. It depends on how long you expect to be your downtime during the actual server switch.

This must be done days before the actual migration day. Usually you migrate the site on a weekend day or whatever is the day of the week with less traffic in your site. So, if you are going to migrate on Saturday, lower the TTL on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Also if you are using SPF (Sender Framework Policy), it is advisable that you disable it now.

SPF are special DNS TXT records that you can use to tell the world that e-mail sent from your domain can only come from servers with certain IP addresses. This is used to avoid that spammers forge messages with addresses from your domain.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Policy_Framework

Since your site will be changing IP addresses, either you remove the SPF records or add both the old and new server IP addresses.

You also need to setup a temporary migration sub-domain pointing to the IP of the new server. This is explained below.

For instance, if your site domain is www.somedomain.com, create another sub-domain named temporary.somedomain.com set to the new server IP.

- 2. Setup the new server

Once the new server is ready in the data center, you need to install the operating system and setup the new IP addresses.

Good data centers provide you the services of a capable systems administrator that can install the OS for you. If for some reason you need or you prefer to install the OS yourself or it has to be done by a person that you trust, all the decent data centers can provide you a KVM switch.

KVM stands for Keyboard, Video and Mouse. It is an hardware and software solution that has provides means for you to control the actual machine remotely, so you do not have to go to the data center in person.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KVM_switch

It consists of a box with cables that send keyboard and mouse signals and captures video output. The operator uses a client program that communicates with the KVM switch box using a regular Internet connection.

Since before you install the OS the server network settings are not configured, using a KVM is essential for anybody to configure the server remotely. KVM is also great for accessing a server that may have crashed or for some reason it cannot be accessed remotely.

- 3. Tune the server file system for performance and integrity

While you setup your server, you also need to partition the hard disks and setup RAID configuration.

RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Disks. This means that your server must use several redundant disks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redundant_array_of_independent_ ...

Having a RAID setup is essential, not only to achieve greater performance, but also assure that if one disk fails, at least another disk will take over and your server does not stop until the bad drive is replaced.

Therefore, you should use at least RAID 1. This means that your system only sees one disk, but there are two disks with exactly the same data being replicated.

There other levels of RAID that provide greater performance. Obviously you need to spend more money in hardware and controllers.

A cheap alternative is to use software RAID. This means that the operating system will take care of reading and writing the data to the disks. Nowadays software RAID can be almost as fast as hardware RAID. This way you save the money of the cost of buy and hardware RAID controller.

Additionally, you can setup several partitions achieve greater performance and integrity of the data. For instance you can have a partition for the database server, a partition for the e-mail server, a partition for the Web server and a partition for all the rest.

This way the accesses to the database server partition will not be hold by the accesses to the e-mail server partition and so on.

Also, if you have a file system problem in one partition, the data in other partitions is not affected. You can fix partition problems independently.

Since you can have different types of file systems on each partition, you can tune each partition according to the purpose of its data.

For instance you can use a transactional file system for the database partition like for instance ReiserFS, but use a non-transactional (faster) file system like ext2fs for the e-mail server, that usually handles less critical data. It depends on how critical each kind of data is.

Once the file system partitions are set, you may need to create users and groups in your system. When you do that try to copy the same user and group identifiers used in the old server, so you do not get problems with denied permissions.

- 4. Install the base applications

Once you have installed the OS and setup the file system, you are ready to install the base applications, like the Web server, e-mail server, database server, PHP, etc..

I recommend that you use the exact same versions of these applications on the new server that you were using on the old server.

If you want to upgrade the version of some application, do it before or after the migration. Never do it as part of the migration procedure.

This way it reduces the chances of the migration to break because something in the new application versions work differently.

If you have installed a newer version of the OS in the new server, it is very likely that it will install newer versions of the applications.

In this case I strongly recommend that you do not install the versions that come in the OS installation media. Instead try to find the old versions and install them manually. This will help you migrate the database data much faster, as you may read below.

If you use MySQL, you may find older version packages in their site. Same goes for PHP, Apache, etc.. If you do not find old version packages with compiled binaries, you may need to build the binaries from source archives.

Actually recompiling applications from source may get you better performance, as the binaries will be optimized for your platform.

- 5. Initial data migration

Once the base applications are installed, you are ready to do the initial migration of your application data. This includes the database data, your application code files, mail server account configuration, logs, file caches, etc..

For simple file migration, the best tool to use is rsync. This is a tool that replicates files and directories from one machine to the other.

http://samba.anu.edu.au/rsync/

For migrating databases this is a bit more delicate matter. If the old and the new servers use different versions of OS, CPU or database server version, you may need to use database backup and restore methods to migrate the databases.

Since this is something that may take a long time, you need leave the database migration for a later step to minimize site down time.

However, if the OS, CPU, and database server are exactly the same, you may also use rsync to synchronize database server data files. This may reduce the migration down time from hours to minutes.

You may still migrate database data with rsync when the OS versions are not very different. For instance I used rsync to migrate MySQL database data that was in a server with OpenSuse 9 to a new server with OpenSuSE 11 both using different 32 bits Linux 2.6 kernel revisions.

When in doubt if it will work, use rsync to migrate the data initially and the start the database server. Use database table check queries to verify that all worked well.

The initial data migration done with rsync may take a while. But when you do the final data migration step using rsync again, it is all much faster and rsync only copies the parts of the files that changed.

- 6. Put the old server in migration mode

You need to configure your old server so it does nothing that changes your site data. This means it must not change your site database in any form. Make your old server Web server only exhibit a message that says the site is being migrated.

To make it safer, shut down your database server and maybe even your e-mail server, so no database data is changed nor any e-mail is processed.

If you have maintenance tasks being run from a task scheduler program like cron, disable all tasks now.

When you are sure all data is frozen, you are ready for the final data migration step.

Since this is the last step before switching to the new server, you also should lower further the TTL of the DNS records before migrating the database data.

That will help making all site users start accessing the new server much faster. Set it to 5 minutes to make them all see the new server very quickly.

Now just use rsync to synchronize changed files, like logs and cache files. If you have used rsync to migrate your database data, use rsync again to do the final database data migration. Make sure the database server in the new server is shutdown before you do this.

If you could not use rsync to migrate database data, you need to use a database backup tool instead, like for instance mysqldump in the case of MySQL. Then transfer the backup files to the new server and restore the database.

- 7. Bring your new server to life

Once all the data is moved to the new server, you are ready to bring it to life.

Your Web server in the new machine must be already configured to use the new server IP addresses by now. Once that is done, you should change your site domain DNS records to point to the new server address.

Even if you do all this, some DNS servers in world will still be caching queries pointing to the IP of the old server. To make all users come to the new server, you should configure the Web server to redirect all users to a special temporary domain that was previously configured in the first step.

In Apache you just need to add a line like this to your virtual host configuration of the old server:

Redirect / http://temporary.somedomain.com/

It will look like this:

DocumentRoot ...
ServerName www.somedomain.com
Redirect / http://temporary.somedomain.com/

In the new server you need to add a line like this to your domain virtual host configuration:

ServerAlias temporary.somedomain.com

It will look like this:

DocumentRoot ...
ServerName www.somedomain.com
ServerName temporary.somedomain.com

Just keep in mind that cookies from one domain may not be shared with other domain. So if you use cookies based sessions for logged users, users that are redirected this way will no longer be seen as logged.

- 8. Double check your server security

In your old server you may have taken some security precautions, like closing unused ports in the firewall, auditing the server security, etc... You should take the same precautions on the new server, especially if it uses a different version of the OS and applications.

For instance, if you use security auditing tools on the old server, use them again on the new server.

You should for instance security tools like nessus. This is a free tool that performs thousands of tests to verify if your server has known security vulnerabilities.

http://www.nessus.org/nessus/

If you do not do this, script kiddies will do it and abuse from your server soon or later.

Nessus will tell you if you are using insecure software that needs to be updated or you have unnecessary ports opened.

Some Linux distributions already come with nessus. However, it is better to download and install the application from the Nessus site. Usually it is a newer version and it does not require you to install all the GUI packages on the server.

Nessus is a client-server application. You can use a client program from your desktop machine that communicates with the server and performs the tests. You can run both the client and the server from your desktop machine, but then you may not be able to test local server vulnerabilities.

There is a commercial version of Nessus, which is basically the same, but it is updated more quickly in terms of tests of new vulnerabilities that were found. You need to pay a subscription to have access to the most recent test scripts.

You need to understand a bit about security to understand the reports and fix the issues that may be reported. Alternatively, you may also use online professional auditing services from companies like SecuritySpace. Once you pay for the audits, they perform automated tests from their servers to check your server.

http://www.securityspace.com/sspace/index.html?refid=1057382 ...

Some of these security checks can and should be done before the actual migration to the new server. The only reason why I listed this step after the migration is because your server will not yet be responding under your site domain before you make the DNS switch.

- 9. Epilogue

Finally, you may re-enable the your site maintenance cron tasks.

You should also restore your DNS records TTL value, usually set to several days.

If you have disable the SPF record in the first step, you may re-enable it after a few days when all the world DNS servers are seeing the new server IP address for your domain.

- 10. The forgotten step that you remembered

As you may have read, migrating servers is complicated, but it can get worse if you do not anticipate all the problems that may arise.

Often it is better to leave it to a systems administration professional that has experience and competence to do it.

If you are an experience systems administrator, I am sure you have been through circumstances that I forgot to mention and you had to find a clever solution on demand.

In that case it would be great if you could post a comment to this article and let us know how you did it.

The President USA, Mr. Obama Makes Good Relationship With The Muslim World...................

In the begginning his power to lead the American Citizen, Mr. Obama tells the middle east and Muslim world that.......
"American Are not your enemy", and his administration would adopt a more comprehensive approach in its relations with the Muslim world.

He also said that Israel and the Palestinians should resume their peace negotiations and he praised Saudi King Abdullah for putting forward an Arab plan for peace in the Middle East.
"It is impossible for us to think only in terms of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and not think in terms of what's happening with Syria or Iran or Lebanon or Afghanistan and Pakistan," Mr Obama told the Dubai-based Arabic cable TV channel. "These things are interrelated."

Mr Obama said his administration had begun to fulfil his campaign promises by naming former US Senator George Mitchell as a Mideast peace envoy and sending him to the region within days of his becoming president. Mr Mitchell was travelling to the region on Monday evening.

"Ultimately we cannot tell either the Israelis or the Palestinians what is best for them. They are going to have to make some decisions," Mr Obama said.

"But I do believe that the moment is ripe for both sides to realize that the path that they are on is one that is not going to result in prosperity and security for their people. And that instead, it's time to return to the negotiating table."

The President noted that he had lived in Indonesia for several years while growing up, and said his travels through Muslim nations had convinced him that regardless of faith, people had certain common hopes and dreams.

"My job to the Muslim world is to communicate that the Americans are not your enemy - we sometimes make mistakes - we have not been perfect," Mr Obama said.

"But if you look at the track record ... America was not born as a colonial power, and that the same respect and partnership that America had with the Muslim world as recently as 20 or 30 years ago, there's no reason why we can't restore that."

During the 2008 election campaign, Mr Obama vowed to improve US ties with the Muslim world and said he would travel to a major Islamic forum abroad to send that message.

"We're going to follow through on our commitment for me to address the Muslim world from a Muslim capital," Mr Obama said.

"We are going to follow through on many of my commitments to do a more effective job of reaching out, listening as well as speaking to the Muslim world.”

Mr Obama did not give a time or a venue for his visit to a major Muslim capital.

He was also asked about the highly personal tone of recent al-Qaeda messages released since he was elected president in November.

He agreed with his interviewer that the tone of recent videos seemed "nervous."

"What that tells me is that their ideas are bankrupt," he said.

Is this really his policy or just to attract the simpathy of the world, especially the Muslim World ........? let see and wait....

The Obama's Style in White House......!

Do you know, what Obama's style when he's in white house.........?
Is his style as same as Mr. Bush.....?
or he gots style one......?

you can read in this article by Sheryl Gay Stoberg :

WASHINGTON — The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

Thus did an ironclad rule of the George W. Bush administration — coat and tie in the Oval Office at all times — fall by the wayside, only the first of many signs that a more informal culture is growing up in the White House under new management. Mr. Obama promised to bring change to Washington and he has — not just in substance, but in presidential style.

Although his presidency is barely a week old, some of Mr. Obama’s work habits are already becoming clear. He shows up at the Oval Office shortly before 9 in the morning, roughly two hours later than his early-to-bed, early-to-rise predecessor. Mr. Obama likes to have his workout — weights and cardio — first thing in the morning, at 6:45. (Mr. Bush slipped away to exercise midday.)

He reads several papers, eats breakfast with his family and helps pack his daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, off to school before making the 30-second commute downstairs — a definite perk for a man trying to balance work and family life. He eats dinner with his family, then often returns to work; aides have seen him in the Oval Office as late as 10 p.m., reading briefing papers for the next day.

“Even as he is sober about these challenges, I have never seen him happier,” Mr. Axelrod said. “The chance to be under the same roof with his kids, essentially to live over the store, to be able to see them whenever he wants, to wake up with them, have breakfast and dinner with them — that has made him a very happy man.”

In the West Wing, Mr. Obama is a bit of a wanderer. When Mr. Bush wanted to see a member of his staff, the aide was summoned to the Oval Office. But Mr. Obama tends to roam the halls; one day last week, he turned up in the office of his press secretary, Robert Gibbs, who was in the unfortunate position of having his feet up on the desk when the boss walked in.

“Wow, Gibbs,” the press secretary recalls the president saying. “Just got here and you already have your feet up.” Mr. Gibbs scrambled to stand up, surprising Mr. Obama, who is not yet accustomed to having people rise when he enters a room.

Under Mr. Bush, punctuality was a virtue. Meetings started early — the former president once locked Secretary of State Colin L. Powell out of the Cabinet Room when Mr. Powell showed up a few minutes late — and ended on time. In the Obama White House, meetings start on time and often finish late.

When the president invited Congressional leaders to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue last week to talk about his economic stimulus package, the session ran so long that Mr. Obama wound up apologizing to the lawmakers — even as he kept them talking, engaging them in the details of the legislation far more than was customary for Mr. Bush.

“He was concerned that he was keeping us,” said Representative Eric Cantor of Virginia, the Republican whip. “He said, ‘I know we need to get you all out of here at a certain time.’ But we continued the discussion. What are you going to say? It’s the president.”

If Mr. Obama’s clock is looser than Mr. Bush’s, so too are his sartorial standards. Over the weekend, Mr. Obama’s first in office, his aides did not quite know how to dress. Some showed up in the West Wing in jeans (another no-no under Mr. Bush), some in coats and ties.

So the president issued an informal edict for “business casual” on weekends — and set his own example. He showed up Saturday for a briefing with his chief economic adviser, Lawrence H. Summers, dressed in slacks and a gray sweater over a white buttoned-down shirt. Workers from the Bush White House are shocked.

“I’ll never forget going to work on a Saturday morning, getting called down to the Oval Office because there was something he was mad about,” said Dan Bartlett, who was counselor to Mr. Bush. “I had on khakis and a buttoned-down shirt, and I had to stand by the door and get chewed out for about 15 minutes. He wouldn’t even let me cross the threshold.”

Mr. Obama has also brought a more relaxed sensibility to his public appearances. David Gergen, an adviser to both Republican and Democratic presidents, said Mr. Obama seemed to exude an “Aloha Zen,” a kind of comfortable calm that, Mr. Gergen said, reflects a man who “seems easy going, not so full of himself.”

At the Capitol on Tuesday, Mr. Obama startled lawmakers by walking up to the microphones in a Senate corridor to talk to reporters, as if he were still a senator. Twice, during formal White House ceremonies, Mr. Obama called out to aides as television cameras rolled, as he did on Monday when the director of the Environmental Protection Agency, Lisa P. Jackson, asked for a presidential pen.

“Hey, Lisa,” Mr. Obama called out to his staff secretary, Lisa Brown, “does she get this pen?”

Like Mr. Bush and other presidents before him, Mr. Obama typically begins his work day with a top-secret intelligence briefing on security threats against the United States. Mr. Bush received the “president’s daily brief” Monday through Saturday; Mr. Obama gets the briefing on Sunday as well.

But sometimes Mr. Obama’s economic briefing, a new addition to the presidential schedule, comes first. Its attendees vary depending on the day, aides said. On Tuesday, the newly sworn-in Treasury secretary, Timothy F. Geithner, joined Mr. Summers to talk about financial and credit markets. On Wednesday, Paul A. Volcker, the former chairman of the Federal Reserve and informal Obama adviser, was on hand to discuss regulatory reform.

Mr. Obama has also maintained the longstanding presidential tradition of weekly lunches with his vice president. For Mr. Obama, lunch generally means a cheeseburger, chicken or fish in his small dining room off the Oval Office. There is also a new addition to White House cuisine: the refrigerators are stocked with the president’s favorite organic brew: Honest Tea, in Mr. Obama’s preferred flavors of Black Forest Berry and Green Dragon.

If there is one thing Mr. Obama has not gotten around to changing, it is the Oval Office décor.

When Mr. Bush moved in, he exercised his presidential decorating prerogatives and asked his wife, Laura, to supervise the design of a new rug. Mr. Bush loved to regale visitors with the story of the rug, whose sunburst design, he liked to say, was intended to evoke a feeling of optimism.

The rug is still there, as are the presidential portraits Mr. Bush selected — one of Washington, one of Lincoln — and a collection of decorative green and white plates. During a meeting last week with retired military officials, before he signed an executive order shutting down the prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, Mr. Obama surveyed his new environs with a critical eye.

“He looked around,” said one of his guests, retired Rear Adm. John D. Hutson, “and said, ‘I’ve got to do something about these plates. I’m not really a plates kind of guy.’ ”

NOW you know, thats Mr. Obama Style is simple, and not too formally..........
